Mass Hysteria!...Indy's Biggest Block Party
The stages erected for the block party will be state-of-the-art, boasting full canopies in case of rain, top of the line lighting and sound and ample space to prominently display backdrops and banners promoting the generosity of our presenting and major sponsors. Featured bands being touted for the line-up to date include Kist (a Kiss tribute band - complete with make-up, costumes and pyro!), Diana Moon Glampers featuring members of Born Again Floozies, Strange Daze (a Doors tribute band), Ben Justus and the Trespassers, The Innate, 19Clark25, Ben Ishmael Revival with Kelsey Smith, The Sean Baker Trio with Nancy Moore and legendary vocalist Jimmy Guilford joined by Kelleen Strutz and Bill Myers. In addition to the main stages at East and College, a central "Play Station" at the intersection of Park and Massachusetts will feature a wide variety of games and contests hosted by Rockstar Promotions and Theatre on the Square. Across from the Play Station the Circle City Socialites, Indy's newest roller derby troupe, will take part in Derby Horses Races (Yes! You can actually bet on them and win!) and Derby Bowling. Derby gals serve as bowling pins and the ball! Taylor Martin of Indy Magic Monthly will be joined by several fellow slight-of-hand artists strolling throughout the event performing magical feats and pyrotechnician and magician Doug Jave will perform his famous fire show on stage. The Filipino dance troupe Sayaw, the authentic Japanese dance troupe Minyo will be joined by Break Dancers and Indy Fringe Street Theatre will be happening all along the Avenue. Comedy Sportz will be performing their regularly scheduled shows in their arena but have promised to join in the fun during the course of the evening.! Check out their "Ballet Parking" available at the north-east corner of College, St. Clair and Mass Ave. Theatre on the Square, in addition to sponsoring two beer and wine tents, will convert their lobby and Stage 2 into Las Vegas style casinos where you can play Texas Hold 'Em tournaments, cash games and Black Jack. For fashionistas, you can get painted-up by our face and body artists, Lauren Jean and Rachel Godali outside clothing and accessories boutiques. Costumes by Margie will offer, at no charge, a fun variety of outfits for partiers to dress up in for photo ops. For a modest fee, King Shots, world-class photographers, will capture you at the party on film and print it for you on the spot. Or you can order from them on line at a later date. Golf carts, Dykes on Bikes and bicycle rickshaws will be made available to transport attendees to the West and East Ends of Mass Avenue where merchants will feature special sales in addition to entertainment. You can tour the East End Art Bank galleries or sit outdoors and listen to some super music while you watch artists creating their works on the spot.
